In brief: Reconstructive dentistry brings together function, aesthetics and long-term stability. Key elements are thorough diagnostics, a step-by-step plan and transparent options — especially for full-mouth rehabilitation and complex dental restorations in Basel.

I’m happy to share a personal update: I recently received international recognition in reconstructive dentistry / prosthodontics. It’s a great honour — and also a strong motivation to keep pushing for precision, quality and predictable planning in daily practice.
What does a specialist dentist mean for patients in Basel?
Reconstructive dentistry is especially relevant when several factors come together — for example with comprehensive rehabilitation, complex prosthetic situations, significant wear (attrition/bruxism), or when function and aesthetics need to be improved together.
Three principles matter most:
Thorough diagnostics before deciding on treatment→ Dental diagnoses
When indicated, 3D imaging: CBCT / 3D diagnostics (DVT)
Transparent treatment planning in stages (options + alternatives + timeline + cost framework)→ Treatment planning
Long-term reconstruction: function (bite/chewing), aesthetics and maintainability should fit together→ Dental replacement explained clearly
When relevant: Full-mouth rehabilitation / restoration
If bruxism (clenching/grinding) plays a role
Bruxism can be a key factor in reconstructive cases. Depending on findings, a protective/stabilising approach may be helpful:→ Michigan splint
Thank you
